Pete MacArthur

Head Skills Coach

Pete brings elite pedigree and proven coaching experience to NYEHA as our Head Skills Coach. A Boston University hockey alumnus, Pete played over ten years of professional hockey before transitioning into coaching — most recently serving with the ADK Thunder from 2022 through 2025. He currently serves as an Assistant Coach with Union College Men’s Hockey.

Pete leads Wednesdays at NYEHA, covering edgework, shooting, stickhandling, passing, and wall work on ice, and upper and full body strength paired with off-ice hands and shooting mechanics in the gym. His on-ice methodology is built around long-term individual skill development within a team context.

Ryan Waltman

Administrative Lead & Skills Coach

Ryan is the Administrative Lead and on-ice Skills Coach at NYEHA — the person who built the program from the ground up. A 2026 Skidmore College hockey alumnus, Ryan brings firsthand knowledge of what elite academy programs look like from the athlete’s perspective.

Ryan leads Mondays (light skate and stationary skill — deliberately low volume for athletes returning from weekend competition) and Thursdays (goal scoring and player request day, helping athletes sharpen what they want before weekend competition). He also oversees all program administration, family communication, and enrollment. Ryan is the single point of contact for all NYEHA inquiries.

Mike Bergin

Skills Coach & Dynamo Girls Hockey Coach

Mike brings deep coaching experience to NYEHA as our Tuesday coach. Currently coaching with the NY Dynamo Girls Hockey program, Mike focuses on the technical and competitive details that separate good players from great ones.

Mike leads Tuesdays at NYEHA, rotating through power skating, angling and gap control, defensive details and structure, and battle work on ice — selected based on athlete energy and recovery. Off ice, he runs lower body strength and speed and power sessions paired with individual or group video work.

Friday Sessions & Additional Staff

Friday sessions at NYEHA feature flow, small-area games, and player choice, and are led on a rotating basis among the coaching staff. NYEHA’s on-ice and strength and conditioning programs are further supported by additional coaches from the NY Dynamo organization on a part-time basis. Heather Bott is the Enrollment Coordinator at Saratoga Central Catholic School and serves as the primary academic contact for NYEHA families choosing the in-person pathway. She guides families through every step of the SCC enrollment process.
